“While we do our good works let us not forget that the real solution lies in a world in which charity will have become unnecessary.” - Chinua Achebe, Anthills of the Savannah
The Greatest of these is Charity:
Freemasons are taught to practice Charity and to care for not only their own, but also to provide relief and comfort for the community as a whole. As Masons, we do this through individual charitable giving and voluntary works & efforts.
The many organizations which comprise the Family of Freemasonry support or contribute to countless charities throughout the world. Within the Unites States alone, Masons contribute more than two million dollars per day to a variety of charities. These contributions are sometimes known and in many other instances, are much less visible. As Masons, we strive to ease the distress and discomfort outside of any recognition.
There are many agencies throughout Arizona which provide relief and charitable giving. Here are a few we support.
Open Hands Outreach Program
Located in Pinal County, Open Hands Outreach Program (OHOP) is a faith based organization with a focus on helping Veterans get the benefits they earned and the services they need.
OHOP actively supports Veterans and their families through Veteran organizations, hospitals, and outreach programs. While their focus is on veterans, their outreach is to their community at large.
Open Hands Outreach Program also partners with other area non-profits; Pinal-Gila Community Child Servises (PGCSS), Salvation Army, United Food Bank, Community Action Human Resources Agency (CAHRA), and local churches to serve those in need.
Masonic Charities of Arizona
Masonic Charities of Arizona is a non-profit charitable organization purposed primarily to assist those Arizona organizations engaged in relieving human suffering of any kind that are dependent upon contributions from the public to fulfill their mission.
Throughout its history, grants from Masonic Charities of Arizona have been provided to needy organizations in the various communities within the State of Arizona.

Shriner's Hospitals for Children®
First founded in 1922, Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 non-profit medical facilities across North America
Providing care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip & palate Shriners Hospital for Children was founded on the principle that all children are eligible for care and receive all services in a family-centered environment, regardless of the patients' ability to pay.
Through the generosity of donors like you, they have been able to help more than 1.3 million children reach their potential and lead more fulfilling lives.
Florence Women's Club
Founded in 1897 and located in Downtown Florence, Arizona; Florence Women's Club (FWC) is a charitable organization endeavoring to meet and fill the needs of the changing community by utilizing the talents and gifts of its members.
Although organized service is the goal, FWC provides a variety of events through a series of programs in which its Members participate in projects, programs, and services dedicated to providing a benefit to the entire community.
People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some, it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others, it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge. Regardless of the motivation, what unites them all is that they find it both challenging and rewarding
Gila Valley Masonic Lodge takes great pride in giving back to the communities where we live, work, and play. If you are interested in being part of our efforts contact us today.
We are always looking for volunteers.
